When will we see more polling data for the Brown/Warren Senate race? Latest ones I can find are the PPP exercise previously mentioned and another from an outfit called Kimball Political Consulting. Brown is leading by 5% and 6% in the two. It is worth remembering there are still large undecided chunks to consider (8 - 9% ), and also remember that both are over a week old. Compared to the other available data though, they are extremely recent; and, it is that older data getting thrown in that still defines the race as "neck and neck".
Two months from Tuesday, the only polling data that matters will be out. Hopefully all of us will be taking part in that "survey".
Don't forget though that Thursday, September 6, 2012 (yes this Thursday) we have the primary elections. I still have that little bit of a philosophical debate with myself in primary elections. I don't quite get the arguments as to why those who are not a member of a party, get to nominate the party's candidate for an election.
Plus, I cringe every time I vote in a primary, because I know that that voting list is going to be gobbled up by some group, and I am going to get buried in a see of mailings and phone calls for help to support "your party".
But I will go. I will pick a ballot. I will vote.
While I can't remember the last time I missed a general or special election, I have admittedly missed a few primaries. I know, one needs to vote, to exercise that right to keep it healthy and meaningful. It is just the unenrolled deciding the fate of a parties candidate that gnaws at me occasionally. Anyone else feel that way?
Hey, I made a quick run the the Our Lady of the Angels Feast last night. Went early, got some sandwiches and rice (and more malasadas than I should have). Good food folks! Nothing like a warm malasada after a good sandwich (or before one).
Great weather for the feast this weekend and for all the other activities everyone has planned.
Speaking of plans, I keep getting asked just what are the plans for Alden Road property. More specifically, people want to know whether it is seriously being considered as a solar farm site. It seems to be. Whether that is in fact the best use of that land remains to be seen.
The underlying issue would be whether this project should proceed with c. 25A (no Town meeting approval and binding vote) or or c. 30B, the formal procurement law. Again, that remains to be seen.
I am told there was a robocall made to Fairhaven residents about a shark siting. Pay heed.
Enjoy the rest of the holiday weekend. Have fun and be safe. Those two things are not impossible to do together.
