Monday's blurry shot

We all have a tendency at times to fail to see the proverbial forest for the trees.  The facts will be right there. We will grasp onto the facts most readily apparent, ignoring anything and everything else. We tend to deal with the immediate issue rather than the bigger problem.

I suppose much of what I tend to put down here is a personal exercise to help create my own map of the various trees that crowd the landscape in an attempt to actually find the extent of the forest that dominates.

We have many issues that need to be addressed.  Many things people want done, feel should be done, and believe need to take priority.

We will be seeing some of those jump to the forefront soon.  Requests for money to do this or that.  Requests and even demands to implement new services and things. It happens. Every year.  It is often driven by the latest fad, the most recent problem or someones individual preferences.

The sales pitch is often wrapped up in a very pretty and appealing presentation. Presentations happen that would shame any infomercial audience member into buying.  It is always for a good cause.  It will save lives. It will protect our future or preserve our past. It is for the children, the elderly, the good of the world.

In what is no longer a PC statement, such things are often cloaked in motherhood, apple pie and the American way arguments.  The arguments are wrapped so tightly that way that the clear implication is if you don't support the same there must be something wrong with you.

I mean what's four or five hundred dollars for something when you are spending tens of millions?  Why not support a group that does so much good?  How can you be against the children? He or she deserves it after all (personally I never make that last one, I might actually get exactly what I deserve).

I have made this particular little presentation in the past.  I will be making it again at some point in the future.

It has been done and will be done because it is in my opinion essential that whatever your eventual stand on a matter is, you need to be honest about your assessment for any desired matter.  We all need to assess the bigger picture.

Of course taking that bigger picture is like a scene in the movies when the family photo at the holidays is taken.  It is usually just a set up for the plot line on the argument of who should be included in the photo.

Anyway, just a Monday morning thought, admittedly a bit out of focus.

  1. Your thoughts may only be out of focus to those who can't see the writing on the wall.
