Briefly Friday

Perception is 95% of the battle.  Where have you read that before?

If you have a good idea, sell it for what it is. Don't try an cloak it in wrapping paper to attempt to make the box pretty.  In the end, very few remember how pretty the box was when unwrapped.

Now you might say that goes counter to the concept of perception noted above.  After all, what about the perception of the pretty box?

As I noted though, once you unwrap it, all the attention shifts to the contents, not the wrapping.

Point number one in the reality of present life: There is little public sentiment on the street to spend money to buy land for the future building of anything by the town. The whole way that concept was sprung is a text book lesson in what not to do when you have plans to do something.

The shifting sales pitch is the one that should have been presented, strongly, from the get go.  I think those involved have realized that the wrapping paper was very quickly ripped off this box.

The other point here is when you wrap something "pretty", never forget the concept that beauty is indeed in the eyes of the beholder.

I will add this to the mix of everything, another concept if you will, I can in fact conceptualize a benefit to the town in purchasing the land. The key factor in my conceptualization is the level of "risk" involved.

Someone needs to spell out everything though. In big letters.  No fancy cursive either.  Plainly printed block lettering.

Indeed, perception is in fact 95% of the battle, and present perception is not good. Whether there is sufficient time and whether there are sufficient facts to alter the perceived perception to the reality remains to be seen.

As to time, it is over for this exercise for today.

Be safe.

  1. Lets just say,I am wondering what the perceptive mind is of the town meeting members.Hopefully they are watching the school building sales fiasco when it comes to buying or selling by the town of its property. They received two buildings for free ,they are pouring money into it sell them .an its going on an on with no end in sight..It would be cheaper to give them away fee at this point with no restrictions.Let planning an building deal with new owners...
