Then there were three ...

Okay, first off.  I fell asleep last night when the meeting screen went blue.  Must be the hypnotic effect of some subliminal message being sent over the airwaves, right?

Anyway, say the announcement of the TA finalist (more on that in a bit). Missed the discussion about remote  participation.

If you have an update and are willing to share it, I would appreciate it.

As to the TA finalist.  Get a bit in front of the curve. Here is some bits and pieces on the three.

About the guy in Rochester, and some more about the guy in Rochester, and a bit more. He has been a finalist for two TA positions over the past two years.  Carver (Prior to leaving Avon, were he spent about seven years). North Attelboro (in August, I believe after his 2014 appointment in Rochester).

If you are expecting a critique, well not going to happen.  Not from this blogger at this point. The information in the above articles is not detailed in anyway as to do that.  It is information however and it should be put into the resource binder.

I have to tell you though that I found the presentation interesting.  The chair of the screening committee, as always very professional.  A few of the other comments, relevant. The business person on point.  Another commentator noting that essentially some of these people are out looking.

Well I am hazarding a guess, they are all out there looking. I seriously doubt any one of the three has determined it is Fairhaven or nothing.

I will leave alone the puffing that some feel must be proffered. I get it.  The appeal of the camera is so very tempting.

The one thing I don't get, is any one of the committee being in charge of the "selling of the town" to the candidates.  Keep it the same professed transparency.  Don't taint the process by further injecting yourself into the process.

I can list a hosts of reasons why the guided tour concept is not appropriate.  It may be okay, so long as all three candidates are guided at the same time.  But any individual sales pitch as to why they would want to be in Fairhaven, sorry.  Outside of collecting a paycheck, one would think they have thought as to whether Fairhaven is a good pitch.

I would be remiss not to note the slight controversy that never quite bubbled up.  One member of the screening committee being a candidate for selectmen.  Not an official candidate. Just quietly and subsequently Facebook announced.

In truth, not sure if there is any actual conflict. Don't care really.  But if an an individual potentially to be the "boss" is involved in narrowing the field, then why exclude an actual boss? Reasons not to have done either.

Interesting mix of choices though.  We will never know who was by-passed.  Well, if rumors are correct, you might know a couple or more who were.

One of the three with real city experience, dealing with a community about 4 to 5 times the population of our own..  One of the three having held two TA posts, and as a administrative assistant in another community (think exec sec for that title) of which all three have populations equal to 1/3 or less than Fairhaven's.  The third being an assistant TA in a community of comparable but a bit less than the population of our town.

Least to think hiring an assistant to become TA is a bad thing, I would disagree.    Nothing wrong with considering someone looking to move up. Not an endorsement, just an observation.

Anyway ... it now is officially what it is.  Down to three.

Until next time folks.
