Why I do this Blog!

Let's start out with the wind turbines.  The intent of this blog is not to fight the fight for the turbines.  Indeed, it is not even to counter the petitioned articles for February 15, 2012 special town meeting articles.  For reasons that should become obvious below, because of the turbine opponents declared association with another group, the issue does become relevant to this blog.

I continue to try and sort out the rationale arguments (and yes there are some) from the red herrings (and there are those too).  I also have to say that all of this still is overshadowed by the simple fact that there has to be a reason which would stand up to judicial scrutiny to void the agreement.

We can all offer our opinions on the legal issues.  In the end, the legality will be decided by the courts.

If they in fact can show that the selectmen exceeded their authority or violated the law, and the lease is invalid, then I say good for them, and quite frankly good for all of us.  No action, no matter how how much you think it will benefit the town, should be based on a violation of the fundamental principals of law which govern us.

The ends should never justify the means.

In saying that, you have found my motivation for this blog, not just his post, but this blog.

Throw FairAction Fairhaven into the mix, and we have a whole different ball game.  Honestly and truly, but for this group, I would not be sitting here this morning writing this.

Reading its posts and its comments, this person is left with the clear impression that the turbines for this particular group is simply a means to an end.

There is a telling statement on the home page for the group's website.  It is under the "About Us" section.
It is time to correct the imbalance of power.
That "correction" is I take it is the changing tides the group uses as part of its slogan.

What this group is trying to do has nothing to do with correcting anything, and everything to do with trying to get a complete shift.  They want things their way, under their terms, and they apparently have no qualms about using the very same tactics they profess to abhor.

It is quick to call people liars, unethical, deceitful (this is from the get go people).  It refuses to directly respond to questions asked of it.

At least one member has made an allegation of people receiving kick backs (no proof offered, just a statement).

Do these things sound like a group devoted to the cause of promoting fair politics?

As I have said several times folks, politics is the original blood sport, and this group provides the best example possible to prove that statement.

  1. I've tried more than once to read FAF's website, but it's a load of gobblety-goop filled with so much speculation, accusation, unsubstantiated 'data', out of context quotes (I'm sure the grassy knoll is referenced somewhere)that it makes my head spin.
