Sunday Ramblings

Well, we are reaching the time of the year when things soon will be heating up on the local political scene.        Life in Fairhaven politics could get extremely interesting right after the first of the year.  I will be making my regular trips to the Town Clerk's office to check out the "green" book, to see who has taken out papers and for what office.

I am going to ask you all for a favor.  If you run across a website, facebook page or other "net" page dealing with Fairhaven, any candidate, the town election or local issues send me an e-mail.  I like to keep abreast of the goings on and it can be helpful to check out everything.

The Bi-centennial Celebration ended yesterday with the sealing of the new time capsule. Give credit where credit is due folks.  The Committee did a heck of a job commemorating the Two's 200 year existence.

The Old Time Holiday Weekend, despite the weather, had parking in the center at a premium.  Nice to see an event like this in Town at this time of the year.

Next selectmen's meeting is I believe scheduled for the `17th of this month, so unless something hits the paper the next few days, I suppose topics of a local nature will be slim pickings, new ones that is.

5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13 , 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32, 33, 34.  What do these number have in common?

Anyone read the full decision from the Judge on the turbine lawsuit.  I did very interesting.  But the quoted text in the S-T article the other day pretty well sums it up.

Based on present law and standards, last shot to stop the blades turning in Fairhaven is the noise study,  From the grumblings being heard through the grapevine and tactic changes, although subtle but nonetheless noticeable, I am guessing no one is holding out for a damning report.

Whether the turbines are going to play as large a role in the upcoming election as they did last year will remain to be seen.  Certainly it would be a mistake to think that the issue won't come into play.
