Wednesday, seriously?

So I believe tonight is the debate for the B of H election.  It will be held at the Council on Aging building at 7:00 P.M.  I just discovered last night I can't make it for the "live" event.  going to try and work on changing that.

Anyway, If anything significant happens, and you are there, do me a favor and give me a heads up via e-mail or comment.  Impressions and opinions on the debate will also be welcome for comments.

If you are completely unsure on who to vote for, or are sitting on the fence, might be worth your while to go, or make sure you catch the re-broadcast on cable t.v.  If the taping is posted to the on demand for the government access channel I will try and remember to post the kink in a subsequent blog.

Moving on ...

The is an old saying that has been used been attributed to a number of people in various forms that "everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but not their own set of facts."  The difficulty most be face when reading opinions is determining what is actually the correct set of facts.

In the end we all must weigh opinions we read or hear.

In doing that weight lifting, remember the fact that just because something gets printed or stated, doesn't make it true.  The headline in the newspaper, the title to a blog post, the heading to an article is usually no more than an editorial device intend to grab your attention.

Moving back a step ...

We go to the polls in less than two weeks. Some of us will be going anyway.  There will be those casting a vote based on a laser beam focus on one issue.  Some will vote with a somewhat expand spot light focus. Others will be casting a vote based on the flood light concept.

The focal point for any scenario though will be the turbines (Although it seems benefits are creeping there way into it).

As I stated before, this election will not end the debate. Indeed it will exist for years. It will at times simmer and will occasionally boil over.  But it will be here.

Shifting gears a bit ...

I think I have been pretty tolerant as far as posting comments with differing opinions.  Indeed, for the most part, even when applying the "four corners" rule I think I have been pretty liberal.  Heck, when compared to other "sites" I figure I have been extremely tolerant and way out in left field.

Fundamentally, I don't have any problem with people being critical of either my posts or comments, or expressing their opinions on the topic.  Indeed I post comments that in some instant in my mind constitute a whole lot of waste of effort and time.

People need to remember a blog is a personal endeavor.  It is not a news source.  It is not an Internet library resource center.

Allowing comment and discussion from the general public is optional, not a requirement. Indeed we have very local examples of how comment can in fact be limited, or not allowed on blogs and similar "sites".  That is by the way an absolute right.  Quite frankly it is not one that shouldn't be criticized.

I point out what goes on elsewhere because people who seem to lean toward that point of view seem all too quick to criticize the similar actions bu others.  Simply take a long hard look in your opinion mirror before you decide to do criticize others.

If you don't like what I post, I get that.  If you don't like some of the comments other people post, I get that.

If you assume this personal exercise exists to provide you with the answers to your questions, or is tailored to meet your personal preference, you simply don't get it.

You want things your way, go where special orders don't upset them.  This establishment offers a limited menu and we don't do special requests.

If the level of service here is not up to your expectation, or the quality of the dish being served here is below your desired standard, well feel free to leave.

Enough of that rant.

Be safe.

  1. The debate for the Board of Health election is tonight and it's time to let the candidates speak.

Today the Board of Health race takes center stage in the local newspaper again. The title to the news item is
April's mistakes will not be repeated. Let's hear from the candidates and end comments by local officials about a past election. Like the movie Rambo: "Johnny it's over."

A local Superior Court Judge called the results of April's election a public disgrace and that should have been the end of it and a new election September 9

While the news story reports the election mistakes in the April election will not be made again you have to ask if the mistakes are already in motion again. Many excuses or faults were pointed out before, during and after the election. Today there is another public comment about the poll workers being to tired during the election to add to the ongoing growing list of problems of the April BOH election. The April election is in the past.

There are only days before the election in which local town officials need to stop making comments to the local newspapers about the past election. It's not fair to either candidate. The comments are taking away from both candidates.

The April election is over and it's time to hear from the candidates on the September 9 election. No one wants to hear another excuse about the April election.

  2. Candidates need to be clear and specific about where they stand and what they will do. Observers have to 'listen.' Otherwise tomorrow will be filled with more of the same misinterpretations and allegations and nothing will be gained by the event.

  3. You know what, this is absolutely a perfect observation of what needs to happen.
