Monday Blues

What does 18 or so of the last 20 years of fairly active involvement get you in anything, besides grey hair and a volume discount on anti-acids?

A collection of documents you can weigh in the tons for one thing.

A perspective on the difference between proactive, reactive and opportunistic for another.

An insight into the various ways people look at OPM.

A few laughs, some gut wrenching moments, and ups and downs along a track that would make the best roller coaster ride seem like a Sunday pleasure drive.

Like riding a roller coaster, the fun is always tempered by the realization there is the possibility the car will fly off the track.  It is not a rational fear, if you assume all the proper maintenance and inspections have been done.  But that is the leap of faith you must take every time you sit in the car to take that ride.

I suppose I can chalk up this morning's mode to being Monday.

Anyway, why should this year be any different than most of the years  in the past.

Just about everything being touted as proactive is simply panning out to be a reaction.  I haven't quite determined what is falling into the opportunistic category yet.

We all seem to long for a perfect world.  Perfection, like beauty, unfortunately is indeed in the eye of the beholder.

Enough for today.  Be safe.

It's time for a Double Gulp, John. Look at the bright side, in MA it's still permitted.
You're right, a 'perfect world' will be defined in many ways by many people. BUT not everyone is ambitious enough, even if they are intelligent enough, to work towards what they want. So right there, your odds for making a change that you desire, improve.
In the words of Walt Disney, "If you never dream, how will you ever have a dream come true?"
Everyday is an opportunity that shouldn't be wasted.

  2. John, can you explain why the Finance Committee is recommending Article 18 Sustainability Revolving Account? This super secret committee must have some political pull, because I don’t think they receive the scrutiny that other committees endure.
Who is on the committee? Why are they not listed on the town website? Why do they have no minutes? Why do they have no agendas? What are they working on? What do they need up to $10,000 for? To do what exactly? The Planning Board is an elected board and we must fight to keep our $5,860 budget intact and yet do many mandated things with it. A super secret committee is just going to be handed up to $10,000? Why the different treatment by the Finance Committee and Board of Selecmen?

    1. Cancel the question of who is on it. I searched the town website and there is a page listing member names. Not sure where it is without actually searching, but I found that much anyways. The rest of my questions remain. Does town meeting have to approve what the money is to be spent on?
