Today's Certainty: It is Wednesday

Several notable pieces in The Standard Times today.  There is a brief write up on the Government Study Committee and the meeting to be held Thursday at the West Island Improvement Association building.  Start Time is 6:00 P.M.

Get used to reading about this committee.  Certainly get used to reading about change in government. Absent an unforeseen circumstance of a truly extraordinary nature, I plan to be present for this first public forum. More on that later.

Our sister community, the Town of Falmouth, is on course for a 16 hour a day operation plan for its turbines. The article in The Standard Times provides some background on that matter. If you access The CapeCod Times or view WickedLocal.com you can find a bit more detail, especially the Wicked Local site.

Keep abreast of developments on all fronts folks, because the issue is not concluded.  Some may think so. Some may want it to be over.  It isn't, and for a number of reasons that should be obvious it shouldn't be.

One of the most obvious, if not the one that should be clearly obvious: not every vote cast in this past election, on either side, was cast supporting the absolute position of either side.

Was the election a referendum of sorts, yes I will agree with that. Many people were casting votes for many reasons though.  They had two choices and were forced to fit their votes to a particular candidate. I can tell you right now, based on personal observation and conversation, this was not a vote on any absolute position.
Moving on ...

Several things coming up in Town on the "social" side of things. Events run by various groups.  Take a look at the events calendar on the Town website.  If you are looking for stuff to do over the next few weekends, there you go.

I am going to end it here.

Be safe.

  1. Other than just reading about this committee,I would like to see some actual results on the topics they are supposed to cover.Lets hope politics an an differences in in opinion are put aside to find solutions for all the town citizens. Hopefully present laws, regulations, etc.don't hinder greatly what they are trying to do.

  2. If the GSC isn't on the up and up, then we seriously have a problem in this town. Following a committee from the start is an opportunity most of us haven't had the chance to do before. If anything unscrupulous occurs, then shame on us since we were all able to watch the meetings.
It's hard to not be suspicious of political committees, but so far, they have been open in notifying the public of their discussions.
It would be great if residents filled the hall on Thursday.
