Thursday already?

I had a rather lengthy piece completed this morning for publishing.  But, as the old saying goes, discretion being the better part of valor, I need to read it a few more times before hitting the publish button.  It isn't a "local" issue per se, but is about some things that affect us locally.  I started writing it and I guess I let the emotions get the better of me.  As I have said, we all need to take at least a second look at what we are willing to send out for others to see and read.

Anyway, today is the first candidates' forum.  anyone reading this who goes, feel free to provide your opinion as to what you hear (the breakfast mentioned in a prior post).  I was informed there were still tickets available after the deadline, but with the windy conditions out there the last few days and today, I wanted to give the moths in my wallet a fighting chance if I let them out.  Hey 10 bucks is 10 bucks.

I wish all the candidates well.  I actually do.  I hope everyone presents themselves in such a manner that people walk away rethinking any previous stance, and realizing they have a tough decision to make.  That would be a win win for the town.

Thursdays are tough days for me.  Too many issues running through what is becoming a very cluttered mind every passing day.  I find myself with one thought, trying to think it through and it veers off into another.

Less then 4 weeks to the election.  Less then 2 months to town meeting.  About a month until hard figures have to be put out on a budget that seemingly can only be balanced with a chainsaw.  Then of course there is work.

I need me a "pensive".

But back on track here.  Starting today, and moving forward, I imagine some interesting highlights about the candidates will start making it to the public eye.  There have been a few postings on face book, but unfortunately at this point it is hard to distinguish what can be verified and what can't.  Most of you following this blog will know exactly what I am referring to.

There is some interesting gossip on the street too.  But at this point it is gossip.  I don't have the time right now to track anything down, nor am I inclined to.  I will just had whatever gossip you do hear, please don't accept it as gospel.

Too often we take as fact statements we hear.  Fact is something that is not in dispute.  Fact is something that can be proven.  If someone tells you something, and they state they can prove it, well then make them.

There is a reason "mudslinging" has been a tried and true tactic in politics for hundreds of years.  Through enough mud and it does eventually stick.  You can eventually cover up the true issue.  Politics is a dirty business.  Unfortunately, more often than not, it is one's supporters doing the mudslinging.

Just an observation.  People can, and will, take from it what they are inclined to believe.

See you tomorrow, maybe.
