Seems our Governor doesn't think all that much about the idea of tying casino revenue to South Coast rail. I know he hasn't come out and simply said no. Not in plain English anyway.
According to the article in the S-T today, the Governor says it is too soon to talk about such a proposal. Translation, thanks for sending me the letter, but ....
Quite frankly, I am more interested in knowing what the House Speaker and Senate President think about the idea. The fact that we haven't heard anything about their thoughts on the matter is a better indication of what will happen with the proposal than the Governor's response.
"We must take bold, creative steps to avoid looming economic and social isolation for New Bedford and the region." Quoting the New Bedford Mayor and Fairhaven House Representative in today's S-T "The Quotable Voice".Truer words would be hard to find. First step seems to have been the letter suggestion the casino money is used to fund the rail.
Now what?
Okay on a more personal note, it seems some time yesterday, I had by 30,000th page view. I realize that is no blogger's record. But the fact it happened has greatly exceeded my expectations for this little exercise when I started it.
Wasn't sure how long I could keep at it. In honesty, not sure how long I will keep at it. Seems to be one of those things that once you start it, you just keep doing it. wish I could get that feeling about an exercise program.
With four (4) days to go I also have a shot at the goal for average unique viewers over the first six (6) months. Not sure I am going to make that one, however, I have also exceeded the initial figure for that when I started this blog just under 6 months ago.
The target is 300 unique visitors per month by the way. The intital expectations were about 1/3 of both figures.
Again, nothing earth shattering about any of it. I have in the past provided some updates on the matter, so ...
For everyone with the week off, keep in mind everything going on in the area and specifically Fairhaven. Check out the tourism department's info page if you need to find something to do this week.
Whatever you do, have fun, but be safe!
