Just another day

Life is good today.  Computer problems resolved. Forecast for the weekend is good.

Another story in The Standard Times to prove that, yet once again, you just can't make up some of the stuff that happens in this Town.

Classify it as an updated version of the dog ate my homework:  I left my cell phone home.

At this point it is what it is.

Listen,  I understand that the stuff going on is serious.  Just as I understand that as serious as it is, there is not point in letting it eat away at you, at least there isn't for me.  It being exactly what it is, the decisions are out of our hands.

Sit back and relax.  If you can't relax, well you are going to drive yourself crazy until this one plays out.

Way too early in the present round of events to be working up a sweat about the what ifs, maybes and fall out.  A bit too chilly the last few days for that too.  Not to worry, the forecast is for things to heat up soon.

Don't get me wrong, a healthy debate is always good.  Just not going to let it get to hot for me right now.

Of course there is always the possibility that something will happen to light the fuse, but what the heck.  The 4th of July is just around the corner.  We have to expect a few big bangs and some fireworks.

Not sure what it is today.  It is a chilly, wet morning. The sun, well it ain't shinning yet.  I am a bit tired. Got too much stuff to do today. Yet I am in a good mood.

So good in fact, I am able to resist the temptation to go go off on a few tangents. So far anyway.

How about just some notes ...

I was asked yesterday how come the water ban hasn't been lifted with all this rain.  Answer:  the water ban has nothing to do with the "drought" or the lack thereof.  It is all about pressure, and not the political kind.  The work on the water tower is why the ban is in effect.  I am hearing the ban should be lifted sometime soon, maybe on Sunday, or sometime next week.

As a plus, and a simple note, and a reminder, Monday should determine the next step in the election issue with the Judge's decision.  It will be what it will be, and after that any appeals will determine timing I assume.

In the take your pick:  good news or bad news category

Assuming I can count, only 297 days at the most to the next town election.

Assuming I can count, only 16 days to the next fiscal year.

Again assuming I can count, thankfully there are a few bright bulbs in in our package.

Assuming the good mood will wear off, there is plenty of cannon fodder in the news for the week that was, and no doubt for the week that will be.

In the what if category,  what if ... Government actually worked the way it was suppose to, every time, heck even 50% of the time?

No more in that category, that one is mind boggling enough.

Alas, it is what it is, and that's all it is today ... except to note my weather app indicates you might be able to leave the umbrella home if you are catching the 9 o'clock train (going to keep making the references until someone figures it out).

Anyway, be safe.

  1. The news story in the Standard Times is horrible attempt at humor. The Standard Times owes the public an apology and explanation for their view of why they think the story was funny.

The news media continues to call people living near the turbines as opponents rather than victums.

The health and welfare of the residential home owners is at stake here. Everyone in town knew the Bruins game didn't start until 8 PM while the turbine was to be shut off at 7 PM. This is probably one joke that will backfire for sure.

The Fairhaven Board of Health as well as the Select Board voted to shut the wind turbines down from 7 PM to 7 AM .

This one news article and the casual attitude of wind contractor has already caused an even deeper division between all the parties involved.

The business community, state officials, state university along with the wind industry have made a giant mistake placing commercial megawatt turbines too close to residential homes.

Rather than stepping up to the plate to fix the problem and the mistakes the attack continues on the residents who live around the turbines . How many families do you throw under the bus or just consider them and their children road kill and send them to the green energy altar ?

  2. This is a prime example of why there's excessive tension between the parties. Sides were taken from the start. But the lack of courtesy towards the opponents/victims/whatever, has been obvious from the get go.
I find it difficult to believe someone in that position would be concentrating on a game more than his business. And to come up with a lame excuse and make light of it only serves to compound the frustration.
If he didn't shut off the turbines for legal reasons, or personal reasons, he should have been honest and said so. Not doing so only further damages the developer's credibility that he will make an honest effort to make things work.

  3. These same residents bought property next to a sewer plant an have had problems with odor etc.over the years. How many left an how many stayed. Now turbine problems with unproven health problems how many will stay an how many will leave.Does anyone see the correlation here.We are building a school for 425 children in the same area and we didnt blink an eye.Wont these same problems odor an health effect them the same way as the home owners.Probably not ,because they dont here or smell the same problems as adults.
