Thursday

White hats and black hats.  Was a time where it was easy to tell the good from the bad based on the color of a hat some cowboy wore in a movie, or the description of the clothing of a character in a literary piece, or the costume worn by an actor on a stage.

We all have roles in this life, sometimes juggling many different roles simultaneously.  We all are critics of the roles played by others, and hopefully of those we ourselves play.

Those sensory clues often times lead us to certain conclusions.  Call it first impressions. Gut instinct. Whatever.

We often simply see what we are conditioned to expect.

So what does this all mean? Whatever you can take from it.

Moving on ...

I love watching videos.  I do ... Nothing more, just a statement.

Lingering question is about the question. when will we vote on the BPW article.

First, note that the article passed by town meeting requires the "Act" be submitted to the registered voters of the Town at any annual or special Town election who will vote on the following:
“Shall an act passed by the General Court in the year ______, entitled "__________________”, be accepted by this Town?”
Being conditioned on an act being passed, until the act is passed by the General Court, there is no act to vote on.  Until the blanks are filled in, no ballot question. So once the General Court passes the "Act" and the time frames calculated to follow the procedures for holding a TOWN election, than such an election can be held.

Not a specific answer, I agree. It is the only correct answer at this point until the blanks can be filled in.

So there is your answer, at least the only one I can see, unless we want to vote on a not yet passed "Act".

Anyway ...

Confusion seems to be a very popular word these days.  Most of which seems to be confusing in and of itself.

Being often confused myself these days, it is perfectly understandable that such confusion seems to reign supreme.

Moving on through that tangled web ... As difficult as such movement gets at times ...

The bandwagon.  Everyone loves a bandwagon.  Especially when they don't have to pull it.

Knowledge and wisdom folks.  Two related but distinct things.   No one I know, including myself most definitely, possesses enough of either. Truly was a time when I gave near universal deference to the "collective" concept.

Anyway ...

Last post dealt with goings on down the road. Dartmouth Town Meeting shot the the proposal to expand its selectboard's authority over town department heads. Bottom line on this one, had the article been approved by Town Meeting, it would have gone to the voters. Some are arguing it should have been, due to the nonbinding referendum prior to the article placed on the warrant by the selectboard, which article created a brouhaha by itself.

Still, it would have been the voter's final say.

Anyway ...

As we all know two dimes and a nickel total to the same value as a quarter.  Loose change can be a pain. Carrying one coin can in some ways be an improvement. Bottom line, no matter which way you look at it, you still only have 25 cents in your pocket.

Anyway ...

Not having the desire to carry around the spare change any more, and with little need for the quarter, not to mention an empty fuel tank, it is going to be at least a few days before the drive to get back here is going to occur.

Be safe.

  3. From The Advocate yesterday.Separate from this post, who expects the former schools to ever sell/lease after seeing the proposed restrictions placed on it/them? And I didn't think it was the committee's job to make a list of restrictions.
Research the possible uses and make recommendations based on them to the Select Board. If it's rented, are we going to have to invest to make repairs to make it usable?
I don't understand what the R/O study committee is thinking, except how best to protect their own neighborhood's interest. Am I missing something?
