What is Tuesday Again?

I have a piece in draft about the midterms from two weeks ago.  Perhaps it will stay there.  Two weeks past is an eon.  While we are a town deep in history, perhaps nothing to be gained from dredging up ancient history.

There is plenty enough new history to be made.

If you watched last night's selectmen's meeting, in what could have been a basically brilliant second half strategy, relative to the Mill Road property, in the last quarter seemed to revert back to the old game plan.

Here again one must remind the readers of the perception concept. When you spend time explaining how perhaps you can understand how the wrong perception came about, and spend time (and time well spent, it really was) explaining what this is now all about, but then spend time explaining what needs exist in certain departments and what has to be done for certain departments, you have no shift gears, but rather created a circular argument.

If this is all about public safety building(s), why is it the conversations all seem to in the end revolve around public safety buildings?

Truthfully, in addition to the periodic ethics exam that must be taken, a logic course should be mandated.

Dealing with the issue of how to pay for the land, one suggestion is commit to take all proceeds from any land sales to be used to pay down the principal. But depending on what we decide to do with Mill Road, we may not want to sell off some of the land.

We may not because some of that land could be used for .... you can guess it.  If we don't buy Mill Road, we may not want to sell off some of the land because ... you can guess that too.

All roads seems to eventually lead to the same destination folks, whether you travel down the straight section of Mill road, or the segment with the twists and turns.

My reluctance for this purchase isn't based on it being a bad idea.  That is because in my mind the economic development argument is in fact a good idea. Being a good idea and whether you want to roll the dice on it are not wedded however.

There are other little tidbits one can and does gather from these meetings.  Divide the parcel into three or four lots being one.  Maybe lease the land being another.

What's up with that?

The wheels continue to turn on this one.  Not a bad thing if the vehicle being driven has a path to follow.  when some one decides to simply turn the steering wheel right or left though, like the wheels turn, you drive the vehicle in a circle.

This particular article will involve a leap of faith. A big one.

Would it be beneficial to the town to control the development of that land? Absolutely. Will it be developed in a really beneficial way?

Each of you have to decide whether you have the faith in leadership to make it happen.

Well the tree hearing was a bit anti-climatic.  I thought there might be a bit more of a protest. Truthfully, it is best there wasn't.  Best if you want to see the work done that is.

What else for today?

Just some wishful thinking I guess. I wish all this stuff coming up could have waited a year. I wish I could say I have strong faith in vague plans. I wish I could understand the thought process better.  I really do.  At this point in time, I am not sure if my reluctance isn't based simply on the first wish.

Anyway ... not many more days of wishful thinking left.

Enough.

Be safe.
