Worth Your Time (I think) & some tidbits

One thing that I would recommend to you as being worth your time is for you to pick up a copy of the Fairhaven Neighborhood New (1/26/2012).   Some interesting articles and letters, and "From the Editor" piece.  If you prefer to view on line just click on this link: Fairhaven Neighborhood News.

Read everything, do not omit the letters printed in opposition to the project. Read this, do your own research and be informed.

Then I suggest you also look at today's our view in the S-T.  On line link is S-T Our View. (S-T gets second billing because they came in second, in many ways, on not only having the same opinion on this topic but in reporting on the issue).

I won't and cannot disagree with the statement in the S-T that "To be sure, Fairhaven leaders could have managed this project earlier and more openly than they have done."  As they also reference, this whole process should be a quest for the honest truth.  As if to provide its readers with a quid quo pro for a prior opinion peace, at the very end the newspaper adds "Fairhaven deserves better".

Fairhaven in fact though does deserve better.

The only true way, the only fair way, that will happen is for each and every one of you to become educated on the issue.  Research the issue.  Do not accept as gospel the opinion of any one expert.  Dig deep into qualifications and motivations.  Because someone says they are an independent expert does not mean they are an independent expert.  Neither should you dismiss out of hand an opinion because it comes from someone you believe to be biased.

Tidbits

The one thing I am in complete agreement with that some are using as part of their slogan; and, that is be educated.

Do not just read things that support your point of view.  More importantly look for the flaws in research on both sides of an issue, especially the one you support.  Question everything.  Do not disregard anything.

You want to question motives of experts, fine.  But please do so for both sides.  If you are reading this you have access to a great research tool, the Internet.  You can find a lot of information for free right on line.

Again I say dig deep.  I mean deep; and, I mean find out about your point of view and the point of view on the other side.

Shifting gears a bit, I would like to know just what everyone thinks about "the green communities act".  Truth be told, I don't particularly like it.  It is another one of those paving stones on that road I have referred to in the past.  Great intention, but ...

Let's see if I can come up with a notable quote here:  nope just don't seem to have it in me today.

  1. Well said. Let's all look at both sides with the goal in mind of what is best for the town and its people.
