Okay, if you need a chuckle this morning, even if the same is a result of the need to laugh so you don't cry, you have to take a look at the picture on the website for an article from The New York Post. Honestly, I think whoever owns the copyright to The Three Stooges should issue a disclaimer notifying the public that none of the individuals in the picture are in any way representative of the high standards for the franchise.
I could rattle on about the stumble and bumble in Washington D.C. right now. Why really bother. Most of you don't want to read about it on this page. A good portion of you are entrenched in your positions on the matter, which is fine, because so am I.
The amazing part is most common folks like us are probably in absolute agreement over one fact, there is something seriously wrong going on.
It is said every dark cloud has a silver lining. When you find the lining for this one, let me know.
On the local level ...
I have to admit the political pundit wannabe in me is suffering a bit from withdrawal at the moment. When you think about it, on the local and state level, the "action" had been pretty non-stop for about two years. I take solace from the fact that the respite from silly season won't last much longer.
I suppose I could take a plunge into the waters across the harbor. While what goes on in New Bedford does have a bearing on our little town, I nonetheless have a personal aversion as a non-resident of the city commenting on who people of the city should or should not support.
Besides the water is too cold to take that plunge.
Okay, the next hot topic that will be coming down the pike will be the often heard, seldom done revenue stream enhancements and expenditure reductions.

What should be a matter of right to some is deemed nothing more than a perk to others. My necessity may be your unwanted. My interest may not be enough to float a toy boat in a bathtub for you.
What you think should be a freebie, I may think is an absolute waste of taxpayer money.
Deep down I think everyone realizes that you cannot do everything everyone wants, except when it is something someone themselves want. So, what stays, what goes, what should we charge for?
Think about it.
If that isn't enough to float something in the tub, than you also have the open line format for commenting too.
I am out of time.
Be safe.
Maybe it's time to look more seriously at what services can be contracted out. That would allow us to accept competitive bids and let the contractor worry about retirement accounts and benefits. It might also give us a better perspective in the future of what our collective wants v.s. necessities are.
