Turbines Health Study: what now?

So by now everyone should have had the opportunity to review the articles in S-T on Wednesday concerning the state's study on health issues and the court ruling on the lawsuit filed (you might also want to see what was in there Thursday).  Most of the issues have been decided favorably for the town at this stage.

This does not mean the matter is resolved however.

The land lease issue is absolutely crucial.   It is not an issue that should be dismissed as a mere technicality.

If the selectmen entered into a lease/contract/agreement which exceeded their legal authority, then shame on them.

If this is in fact what occurred there will be significant ramifications for the turbine project, as there should be.

Pending a judicial termination, just what are we suppose to do?

The Mass. DEP panel issued its study on turbines health impact.  The report found the same to be minimal (link to study).

Windwise Massachusetts issued a press release shortly after the report became public.  Windwise Massachusetts is an umbrella group for the various local grass root groups in the state opposing the siting of turbines throughout the state.

The press release disputes the state panel's findings and conclusions.  In deed, it goes much further, with a steering member being quoted in the release as saying "This whitewash was no surprise."  There was a call for a "rigorous epidemiological study by a truly independent team of experts".

Please ready the study.  (NOTE:  there have been similar studies done: one by the State of Oregon; and another by the Province of Ontario..

Also, please read the press release and visit the WindWise site (link at the end of the press release).

When you read the study from the state spend some time researching the experts on the panel.  After you do, let me know whether you feel that these people would be the type to sell out?

After reading the press release from Windwise and visiting its site, if you agree that another independent study is needed, a "rigorous epidemiological study by a truly independent team of experts", I ask you to answer these questions:

How do we pick the panel?
If the conclusions come out the same, will you accept them?

If something like this could be done to settle the matter, I think you would find a great deal of support for it.

Unless you are willing to accept the conclusions however, is there really a point to it?
