Well seems the fact I am willing to swap a vote for breakfast got someone a bit upset (see yesterday's blog, about the meal and not about the upset). Quite frankly, I think it makes a heck of a lot more sense than simply casting my vote because of the letter in ( ) after a candidates name.
Of course leave it to the candidate I bet on to break the yolk.
Brown has turned down the proposed debate for UMass. Dartmouth. He puts a bit of a strain on my desire not only for some free food, but a meal of some significance.
You got to ask yourself just why candidates seem to feel it is okay to just skip by the South Coast. We are talking a significant chunk of population believe it or not. We are talking about an area where the people, if not there elected officials, are beginning to identify themselves as a cohesive area.
Before someone jumps all over that and reminds me that Warren accepted the debate challenge, that was all most a given. Challengers want debates. The more the better. It is a given. In fact absent some really compelling reason, one would need to question why a challenger would turn down a debate.
As to Brown, all I can assume is he is making a calculated move. Hoping for a similar vote as to when Coakley handed him the election.
Voters can be fickle Senator. Miscalculating reaction to a perceived snub will probably cost you, not to mention I might have to now buy breakfast.
Seems like I also scrambled a few eggs the last few days. Been talking about the Monday Selectmen's meeting, and I turn on the t.v. and there is the Board of Health. I go and check the posting on line, and sure enough the meeting is tonight instead.
Dang. So you are going to have to wait another day to know what I know.
I had thought I was all set for today's post too. So here I am doing a bit more scrambling this morning.
B of H was a bit interesting. The first 1/2 hour and last 1/2 hour anyway.
Also another interesting tidbit was a noise complaint about a certain shipyard. Also, it appears there is some issue of debris in the air. One member did her research and the preexistence of the shipyard seems to excuse all.
Here is a clue, the fact the shipyard preexists doesn't give a grant for air pollution if in fact that is the case. Nothing exactly new here.
But hey what do I actually know.
In fact who knows maybe something will come of it, but I really doubt it, cause I doubt it will be allowed to happen.
Great, but brief letter in the S-T today relative to texting while driving. The solution to enforcement is that obvious. Ban hand held use of devices. Whether you are on the phone or texting, just ban it. The world turned before cell phones, it won't stop if you can't hold one in your hand.
Briefly jumping back to the B of H meeting, it seems the state has begun the process to conduct the study on noise for the turbines. Quite frankly, watching what transpired, it cannot happen soon enough.
Whatever the results, it may not be the end of the issue, might not even be the beginning of the end, but it will be the end of the beginning (credit to Winston Churchill for the phrase).
As I have previously stated in less poetic terms, it will be the first nail in the coffin for one side or the other.
Competing theories, science, and data aside, it seems many people not involved in the immediate fray are looking to the study as the determinant factor as how to judge this issue.
Okay, I am again running out of time, and whatever the forecast for later in the day, it is just too nice a morning right now to deal with issues.
The Planning Board meets on Tuesday evenings in the Banquet Room. Planning did not post the agenda online. There will be a Public Hearing for Ace Hardware, former Applebees location.
ReplyDeleteThe Selectmen posted their meeting for the East Room, 2nd floor for 7:30 PM.
..."sure enough the meeting is tonight instead.
ReplyDeleteDang. So you are going to have to wait another day to know what I know."
"I'm waiting with bated breath and am almost ready to miss the last innings of my kid's baseball game to attend in person", she said sarcastically.
