Revoking History - short and sweet.

Tonight's presidential debate, which I am sure we are all just a bit sick of hearing about, though most of us are waiting for with great anticipation.  Tonight I think can seal the deal for either Obama or Romney.  If either candidate pulls off a clear win, then I think the race is essentially over.

A draw or anything close to a draw muddies the waters, but I think works more to Romney's favor than Obama, at least in the short term.  Long term in may not do him the continued push he needs.

Enough of that, what happens will happen.

Speaking of happenings, I am getting bits and pieces about what is happening at the Academy Building.  I am not going into this one today with guns blazing.  At some point that may be done.  For today let's just point out, again, that the historical society is a private entity, which continues to proceed under the assumption that a proclamation from the Board of Selectmen 20 years ago was the equivalent  of a land grant, proclaiming rights of possession in perpetuity to a private group.

An incorporated private group which, according to the Secretary of Commonwealth records, has failed to file an annual report as required by law since 1987.  An organization that, according to the online records for the Secretary of the Commonwealth, as of June 18, 2012, had an entry of Involuntary Revocation entered upon its records.

One now has to ask, unless revived, is there actually an historical society to actually deal with?

Plain and simple question which has significant ramifications for any actions on and after June 18, 2012.

Now it may be that this information was not available last night when our selectmen addressed the issue.  It is now.  It needs to be dealt with.

It is laughable.  the tourism director moves things in.  The historical society moves things where it wants.

This is absolutely beyond comprehension at this point.  It is in excusable.  It is potentially disastrous for the Town.  There is no longer a not for profit, unless and until revived.

Get rid of this group, and do it now.

  1. So we have an entity that is only recognized by themselves, illegal in the States' mind, chastised and denounced be the authourized committee, yet locally we still bow to them and continue to let this now defunct group dictate what's best for our building. SIMPLY FASCINATING'. We definitely need to get a grip people, there is so much. fundamentally wrong here I. wouldt know how to start other than to say, YOUR FIRED.
