Take your pick

Well last night was only a daily double, with just the Selectmen's DOR report hearing (part two), and night two of the recount in the Board of Health race.

The recount is over (whether the battle over the validity of the election continues remains to be seen).  The vote was certified.  Peter DeTerra was declared winner by 1 vote.

It seems from a viewing standpoint, I picked the wrong meeting to attend.  I went to the Selectmen's meeting.

No regrets.  In the big picture, that matters discussed have greater ramifications.

Do not get me wrong.  The BOH race is important.  You don't need to have one of the few remaining jobs at NASA to figure out the intricacies of the design by some for that position.

If you are expecting any kind of scathing indictment here on the whole B of H matter, or cutting commentary, forget it.  Too much else is starting to happen this week for me to get worked up about it.

But before I move on ... Outside of those directly affected, and those in their inner circles, the most common reaction from people on the street isn't a verbal one.  There are a bunch of dizzy people in our town from all the head shaking.

Several old sayings come to mind to describe this saga.  "Winning the battle but losing the war". "Take one step back today to be able to move two steps forward tomorrow". "Biting your nose to spite your face" and unfortunately "Winning isn't everything; it's the only thing".

Moving on ...

The DOR recommendations do set out a very intricate design for the Town going forward.

One component of that design has been adopted in final form, based on what transpired last night. The selectmen have voted on the details of the proposed Town Administrator position.  The same has been posted on the Town web site.  Here is the link, hopefully.

Read it.  Review it.  Read it again.  Whatever you do, please read the stuff at least once!

Personally I am at the tipping point in my own decision about the Town Administrator article.  I have not changed my own mind about the concept.  It is absolutely needed.  Whether the final proposal is acceptable or not is going to involve a couple of more reads, along with consideration of a number of things, to be honest with you.

Enough for today.  Be safe.

  1. What's going on in Fairhaven today with the commercial wind turbines is a town torn apart by the false hope of green energy. One end of town has sold out the other end of town with the hope of an Emerald City like the Wizard of Oz. The town is just starting to wake up.

Several years ago a group was determined to buy electric power for the Fairhaven area. The group was called the SouthCoast emPOWERment Compact, Inc. That was the start of commercial wind in Fairhaven.

In addition to buying electric power the group provided testimony for the Cape wind turbine project!

Today the Town of Fairhaven will soon be looking at a big ticket budget and ask what was the financial incentives of the two giant wind turbines sited too close to homes? Over 50 families have lost property values, sleep and been plagued with noise and shadow flicker.

The residents complaints fall on deaf ears at the local town hall !

Now national attention has been brought to Fairhaven over a third world type of election with as many as twenty "so called mistakes"

Since April 1 every day a different news account has been given for " ongoing mistakes"

The Fairhaven voter has got to ask in the future why bother voting it doesn't matter.

The residents of Fairhaven have to blame the election process that just happened in town. This was no fault of either candidate. The population needs to look at how envelopes were left open, wrong ballots in wrong envelpopes, unknown number of ballots sent to polling stations, check in and check out lists that don't match, counting ballots over after swearing in a candidate on a whim.

An investagation has been put in motion that will involve the Massachusetts Secretary of State and then onto the Attorney General and Superior Court .

This is not going away anytime soon. Where the commercial turbines worth tearing the heart out of a community ?
