A Horse, Bird and a Ball.

I completely zoned out last night.  Totally forgot there was a selectmen's meeting.  Hopefully didn't miss anything.  But for the article in the S-T this morning about the discussion on the B of H election, or should I say the request for a new election, would not have even given it another thought.

There is a bit of hope for this matter coming to an end, at least as far as on the strictly town level.  Both Selectmen Murphy and Haworth are quoted as noting, and very correctly in my opinion, that essentially the ball is in Mr. Wethington's court, and it is time for him to decide whether to take it to another court on his own, or the game is over in town.

The people watching the game, based on what I am hearing from the crowd, want it over.  This seems to include most everyone (please note the word "most" not "all").

No one can question the fact that it was an extremely sloppy election.  No one seems to be questioning that at all.  However they are tired of the rhetoric and the paralysis this has caused.

Momentum is a very funny thing.  Certain steps, taken at certain times, will keep momentum rolling in the same direction.  But there isn't a way to defeat the laws of physics.  Sooner or later, there will come along the slightest bump in the road that will veer it off course, or ultimately a moving object will simply stop moving, or there will be a crash between two objects.

Applying the laws of physics, assuming I can remember the same, when there is a crash, there is likely to be a shift in velocity from one moving object to another.  Hopefully you get my drift.

Hopefully this will in fact be the last thought about that particular topic top.

Read about the Dartmouth TM article for a moratorium on marijuana dispensaries.  Not picking on Dartmouth here.  It is a in fact a bit sensible to be contemplating such matters.  Quite frankly it will take less than ten years, a fair chance less than five years, for Massachusetts to join Washington and Colorado in my opinion.

What has to make one chuckle though is while 63% of the people favored the law for medical marijuana, it seems they did so without really thinking about whether their community was going to get one or more of the 35 dispensaries authorized by the law.

Always an interesting fallout when these things pass.  A great idea, as long as it happens somewhere else.

I will have to try and remember to watch last night's BPW meeting.  I believe there was going to be an official from the state to discuss with the Board the implications of removing the fencing to protect the piping plovers.  Seems the fence was ordered removed by the Board as a result of a citizen complaint about the loss of use of space.

However after removal, seems there was a phone call made to the town pointing out that the fence needed to be put back up.  In the category of a victory for constituent service, at the price of substantial financial exposure to the Town, let's see how long the victory lasts.

Seems a whole lot of people are right though.  Politics does seem to be for the birds, even if the politicians aren't.

Want to take a big step in helping out local businesses.  Support the internet sales tax bill.  Seriously.  I am not a big supporter of tax increases period, but when you give someone the advantage of selling an identical product at what works out to be a pretty decent discount, is that fair commerce?

I know there are bigger issues here.  Just a quick thought though.

Someone asked me if I thought I was some cowboy in a white hat always riding to the rescue.  Quite frankly, I would think a comparison to Sgt. Morgan Sylvester O'Rourke was more appropriate.

If you are looking for the answer to yesterday's contest, I did a separate little post on it.

Enough for today.  Be safe.
