A bumpy restart

Did you miss me?

Friday and Saturday were intentional days off.  Morning time was extremely tight.  Mental activity was extremely active.  Rather than try and hammer something out and most likely regret hitting the publish button, well that is it the excuse anyway ...

Sunday morning was just being plain lazy.

Some people say this blog is one of my bad habits.  If so, the old saying that bad habits are hard to break isn't too applicable.  This morning I could have easily made it four days in a row.  It could have been a continuation of a "silence" record.

Anyway, here it is, for what it is worth, which may not be all that much.

Most significant event is tonight's selectmen's meeting.  The mini chatter is whether there will in fact be any attempt to alter the normal rotation of the chair at tonight's selectmen's meeting. The very dull buzz on this one started back in February, or at least the first time I heard anything.

The humming got much louder after the candidate's night held by the business association.  The challenger for selectmen was asked who would he vote for as chair if he were elected.  With out hesitation in the apparent shoot from the hip style the name of the rookie selectman was given in answer.   The incumbent provided the more measured answer, the correct one I might add.

This shouldn't even be a point of discussion.  The only reason it is is a result over the perceived authority the "chair" has, which in actuality is very little except in declared emergencies.  Over the past decade or so however, the perception has seemingly morphed into a much larger role than exists.

My guess however is the realignment will provide little to no real drama.  But hey, who knows ....

Hopefully it won't take up too much time.  Starting at 7:00 P.M. there are six scheduled appointments with the last one slated to start at 8:00 P.M. Add the six action items and three discussion items and it should be a chalk filled evening.

Time is a premium folks.  It becomes more so when it dwindles.

Moving on ...

A little over two weeks until the big show in Town, i.e. Town Meeting.

Hopefully everyone will have all their ducks in a row, with the necessary documentation for review, available in sufficient time for everyone to see, digest, comment on.  Those are the hopes we all aspire to each year, with the refrain of "We will make sure for next year" being sung.  "In the meantime, please take our word for it."

Anyway ...

The town administrator article, BPW revamp, capital planning articles will be/should be the front burner articles.  Part of the reason behind the Friday/Saturday intentional days off was the thought process for the articles.  One that still have the wheels turning in my head.

Still need more time for the wheels to keep turning.  Pluses and minuses abound, and in all honesty would and will not matter what the decision.

I honestly don't know where we are going to end up come the conclusion of this years May event. Unlike some, I am not convinced that everything is as cut and dry, obvious and beneficial.

The great quandary we all face is however can we afford further delay for some aspects of it.

I best end it here.  Forgive the ramblings.  Best that is going to happen today though.

Be safe.
