A view through the fog

Let's give it a whirl. What can we see through the cloudy sphere?

At the Noon meeting scheduled for Monday, December 14, 2015:

Rees gets the TA appointment.

We hear nothing but platitudes for the other candidates, raves about a this and a that (not that we should here anything bad.  Just par for the course though.  Making predictions hear mind you).

While you watch you are going to wish you had a cheese concession to go along with the whine. Most important decision, shouldn't be rushed, had to make sure,  and on and on and on.

You won't hear much of anything about the holdout who doesn't want to pay the best choice, the best. money.  We won't get any significant reason for the delay other than it was so difficult and the need to further vet the vetted candidates. Seeing something swirling around about critics.

So with those images in mind, thus the cheesy comments.

But hey speaking of money...

Nice to see the money spent on the consultant (no, not the TA consultant) paid off.  Got to figure the non-union job classification thingy is done and it has come out kind of what any one looking at the job rather than the individual would say.

I actually thought I heard mention at a meeting we are in fact probably over paying a bit here or there.

Hard to be certain. I don't pay nearly as much attention as I should these days.

Seems this is definitely an issue the board is going to drop into the lap of the TA, especially since the one board member on the still existing but shortly, and mercifully, to disappear personnel board is going to be able to handout the intended raises that board was intending.

Anyway, just more living proof of be careful what you wish for, because you may just get it.

Truth be told, we ended up paying for this consultant because the job evaluations weren't going to get down by the board in charge, Period. What was going to happen, and what was happening was a process of selective determination.

In the end, spending money on that little exercise will save us money in the long run.  A lot of money actually.  Based on some of the PB anticipated proposals, the report has paid for itself. Might want to scratch sitting on that board for any amount of time in the last half dozen years or so from your resume.

But I digress, since, as noted, the issue is now out of the hands of the PB because of the PR that would ensue.

So back to the future.

Could be I am dead wrong on the cracked crystal ball prediction.  I am sure there will be a statement or two about my "reasons" as to the delay being wrong.  T'is okay though.

At this point the issue isn't the reality of what happened, it is controlled by the perception that has crept into more than a few minds throughout town.  Doubt there is or are any argument(s) out there that are going to cure that.

But as I said a post or two ago, it is between Rees and McCue. Either way, the town will sail along. I think Rees would be my choice, but I wouldn't worry about the boat being captained by McCue.

Just taking a shot at whether there is some life left in my cracked crystal ball.

Might be time to get a new one. Times are changing and a new view is in order I think.

Hopefully it will become a more orderly world, at least in our fair haven. That is what this is all about in the end.

Until next time.
