A new recipe for an old dish

Tuesday being Tuesday, no Monday holiday having occurred, it is again the normal garbage day in these parts.

For those of you who look at polls, you will probably also be looking at today as garbage day.  first, at this point at best the same are indications. Lots of time until November. Things happening on a daily basis that can change opinions in a heart beat. Too many substantially different results from too many pollsters.  All garbage at this point.

Locally, all is quiet on the broader spectrum of political life. Thankfully.

Yes there has been a smattering of rumors on who is running for what.  Until someone shows some serious effort, rather than throwing out some feelers and making implied statements, absolutely no point in working up a sweat on any race.

Always fun to have expectations. The political pundit has to be near giddy about some of the potential contests.  But outside of a hope, no need to get too worked up at this point.

Now you know it is garbage day after that.

Sitting out on the deck it is really hard this morning to get worked up over anything.  With about 15 minutes left of peace and quiet before I have to either finish this up or put it aside for awhile, enjoying a beautiful early morning just after sunrise, the only serious thought at the moment is trying to figure out how to freeze frame the view for the entire day.

Can't be done, I know.  But even I escape into lapses of thought for such things.

Number 1 thing I am looking forward to, a speedy third reading and passage of the special act to establish the Town Administrator.  Not sure that is going to happen fast enough.  No hearings of the third reading committee schedule according to the legislative web site.

Point is it seems Boston is gearing up to shut down for a bit.  whether a bill of this importance for our town will be important enough to get done before vacation remains to be seen.

We need it.  As imperfect as I my think it is, it is better than what we got.  No disputing that.  We need it.

The wheels are spinning folks.  You may not necessarily see it, but the wheels are spinning.  Actions are going on, moves are being made, things are happening.  I would like to think everything that is happening is in preparation of what is come come, rather than simply because of what is coming.

You might not get the distinction of between "in preparation" and "because of".  The easiest way to put it is to consider the concept of "lame duck".

Personally, I enjoy duck.  Never had a lame one though.  Time will tell how that one tastes.

Kind of applies to me in a sense, the concept.

It also in some ways is applicable to another saying, one used before on this blog, just because you have the right to do something, doesn't always make it the right thing to do.

Put another way, any actions or changes now have to be looked upon with a careful eye. If something could have been done last year instead of this year; if something is going to alter the way things are being done; can it wait and more importantly should it wait until the new structure is up and running?

Certainly some things cannot wait.  Somethings should not wait.

A few ... well ... a few things will certainly take on the flavor of lame duck action.

 Enough, for me anyway.

Be safe.
