Like a good book

It shall be the duty of the committee on Bills in the Third Reading to consider all bills and resolves prior to their final reading, and examine, correct and recommend such amendments as may be necessary concerning duplication, grammatical errors, constitutionality, etc. The committee shall consider all amendments received from the Senate. The committee shall also act in relation to resolutions and proposals, and any other matters referred thereto.

In case you are wondering what the above is about, it is about the committee before which the town's proposed special legislation was sent to on June 30, 2014. as of a review of the legislative web site this A.M. the bills were still in committee.

Does it make it out of Committee this session, time will tell.  Could have happened. Not sure how frequently the web site is updated so ...

This is another one of those things I ain't particularly happen about, however it is also one of those things that its inevitable and complaining any more about what is, isn't going to change it.  Assuming the same are reported out after the Third Reading as is before the current session is over, with a final vote,  expect to see a special town meeting in the not to distant future.

In fact, when that special town meeting happens, we should see a few other special things.  Things especially of interest, not that the all of the same would otherwise deserve STM attention.  Because nothing is cast in stone at this point, we wait and see.

Certainly expect articles related to the disposition of at least one property in town.  Along with a couple of bright idea ones.  Can't be helped because some just can't help themselves and resist the temptation.

Anyway ...

I thought I would try and throw something together this morning.  I was going to expand the horizon a bit. Spread to issues with broader implications. Quite frankly, I gave that up pretty quickly.

How do you get serious about the issues in this seemingly liberal state.  I use the word seemingly because every idea left of center seems to be embraced with open arms, until the ramifications of the idea come home to roost.

Medicinal marijuana, overwhelming support at the polls.  Propose a facility locally, it becomes a fractured fairy tale.  Asylum for illegal immigrant children, or just a staging location for dealing with this "national" "humanitarian" crisis, well just take a look at the polls done by the Boston Globe.  (no link sorry, to lazy to go get it this morning and don't want to use up one of my "free" article views). I could go on, but just those two should be enough to get your thoughts going.

So long as it don't cost me money, doesn't affect my little zone of the universe, is out of sight I am all right with it, unless of course it is a direct benefit to me or does what I want. In which case what do I care what you think or want.

Pretty much the standard I see applied anyway.

The common please, the common admonition, "people we are better than that". Well people the "we" for the most part is not better than that.  "We" should be, but "we" are not.

We all have rights. We too often forget that "all" means the people who don't agree with you.

I often wonder if "We, the people" is now somehow considered code for "Me and mine".

There are constantly outcries to change the system.  Keep one extremely important point in mind. The founding fathers knew exactly what they were doing when forming a republic. When you argue for dismantling that, you best understand the ramifications.

Quite frankly, the logical conclusions when reality is factored in for arguments on the Right and the Left are equally absurd.

If you are stuck in the middle, be it because of your "independent" political thought, your middle class status, or you are so buried with competing information that it has paralyzed you from moving one way or the other, what are you suppose to do?

I for one don't know any more.

I have a whole rant formed for what we could do, but one of the few things I do know is today it would be pointless.

So with no point to be made, I end simply with .....

Be Safe
